07.28.25 - Our ConfidenceClassic Button Down Prototype is Ready!
I'm excited to announce that WearKind's first button down shirt prototype is officially ready for testing! After months of research, design iterations, and working closely with manufacturers, we now have our adaptive button down shirt in hand. The design features our signature hidden velcro system behind decorative snap buttons, creating the appearance of a traditional button down while offering the functionality needed for individuals with limited fine motor skills. We've incorporated several key accessibility features: the shirt is completely tagless to eliminate scratchy irritation for those with sensory sensitivities, uses soft fabric specifically chosen for comfort, and includes strong velcro strips that provide secure closure while remaining easy to open. The decorative snaps maintain the professional appearance without requiring any actual fastening skills.
These prototypes represent a major milestone in our mission to create functional yet fashionable adaptive clothing. The next step is getting them into the hands of families from our Starcatchers community and other testers for real world feedback. Their input will be crucial as we refine the designs and prepare for our first production run. Seeing these designs come to life reinforces why this work matters and brings us one step closer to making adaptive clothing accessible to everyone who needs it.
